IRC has been the trend in those days and its common for everyone who has Internet access to frequent the chat room. Gal is no exception either though it’s been a long time since she last log in. As always it’s the guys taking the initiative to message the girls online yet this may be the one-day that change her life.

The chat style is always the usual greeting followed by tons of questions. Seriously speaking, she did not quite remember the content of what they had talked about until she chatted with him online using ICQ. To her surprise, he actually kept a log of their first chat.

Both of them started chatting online regularly after that first proper chat. Like her, he is also a night owl who is always online at the weirdest time of the day. However, while she is struggling to complete her work, he is online having game marathon with his friends. This really made her envy the life of an undergraduate.

It’s the year-end holiday and like everyone of her peers, Gal is busy with a part time job. This day, she received a sms from him saying that he wants to meet her during her dinner break. Deciding that it’s been a long time that they have been chatting, they met. He looks exactly the way he is on the picture he sends so Gal can almost recognize him immediately.

An interesting dinner they had. Though they often chatted but it’s the first time they’re talking face to face so things seems a little bit quiet. While eating, Guy’s parents actually walked past their table. That’s perhaps the most awkward scene of the day and he was busy trying to get his parents to go off. Gal even had to leave him finish his dinner while she ran back to my work place.

Both of them started going out for dinner dates regularly after that. He’s become another dinner buddy of Gal. Soon school started and it seems like a common thing to meet up often on Friday for dinner. This eventually becomes another “used to” of her’s. He will always be the one making the arrangement. Even if none are being made, Gal won’t bother about it too.

Soon, it’s the end of the school semester and the holidays started. Both of them got busy with their schedule and the dinner date ceased to exists at all. Soon, Gal started her attachment while Guy is still enjoying his holiday. One day Gal received a sms from Guy wishing her a happy 1st anniversary. Gal asked Guy if had sent the sms in error but he told her that today is the first time they chatted on IRC and he still has that history log with him. That is why he remembered.

Like most girls, Gal was touched. Who wouldn’t be after seeing such a message? Though it seems like a good beginning, its actually the end of it. One week later, he got himself a girlfriend and that’s the waking point from the fantasy that Gal has been spinning. She only knew about the other her when she saw him using their picture on the msn. This picture had finally solved the mystery on the special day that he had noted on his blog.

Though the possibility of him getting a girlfriend did cross Gal’s mind when she saw that note, she did not want to admit its existence. When finally confronted with the truth the bitter taste of disappointment jerked her away from the fantasy, bringing her back to reality.

Time passes and it’s the anniversary. Would you remember it this time round?
