Its friday night and guess how I spent it? I went to Disney On Ice 2006. Imagine inside the cold indoor stadium with a hot boyfriend...hahaha...What better way to spend a friday night.
Walking into the entrance and I could already feel the cold air blowing. However what appears before us is a fantasy land. The whole place was dim and the lights on the stage and props just sets one into the right mood. There's people selling sandwiches, popcorns, candy floss, drinks and even ice balls walking around. Its just like going to a carnival. I feel like a kid!
The show was started by a disney crew who left a supposely broken down ice machine in the middle of the skating rink and the disney repair crews were called upon. The crews weren't anyone else but the ever popular mickey and gang. Cool way to start a show isn't it? Its just so exciting. I can practically feel myself being a young child again.
Up next is Aladdin. The replica part of the genie is just so amazing. One moment there's only one genie and the next you see one whole line of genie marching out. Take note that there's no computer effect involved. Followed by Aladdin is the disney princess classic which includes Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas and my all time favourite Beauty and the Beast. Now that I think back, where did Sleeping Beauty go to? Hmm...
End of the sweet romance, we were brought to the story of toys. That's right...Toys Story! Only the marching soldiers, Allen Woody & girl friend (no idea what's name) and Buzz LightYear appear. But nevertheless its still entertaining. Just before the interval there's a international performance with people in different traditional costumes performing to the song 'Its A Small World'. All the props that they were using for this performance would simply leave one in awe.
After the interval, we had the mickey mouse band performing with mickey as the instructor before the story of Pinocchio unveils before our eyes. The fairy god mother appears in an elevator, coming down so slowly from top of the stadium to the rink. With the smoky effect, one would almost think its an illusion. The little girl who was sitting in front of me was wondering how did Pinocchio's nose grow long when all he did was tell lies. Simple! The skater simply just fixed it on...haha...
For the story of Mulan, effect of the snowing machine was used, creating the ambience of the snow land war scene, making it so realistic. Sitting in the front row does has its advantage. I can feel and touch the snow even if its only a little. Its definitely better that what I watch in the cartoon.
Then there's Mdm Edna introducing the different type of materials used and the characteristics of the uniform for the different member of the Incredibles family. Mrs Incredible even demostrated how elastic her arms can be when she was trying to pull Jack Jack out of the place where he got stuck. That trick gotta have leave the kids going WOW.
We were then brought to the jungle setting with Rafikki appearing first, bringing alive the tale of a young and brave lion - The Lion King. Story was cut short, focusing more on the love story of Samba and Nala. Nothing Much on the story here.
Before we know it, its already the grand finale. All the disney characters appears, performing to the song 'Circle of Life'...
Throughout the show, both Lance and I felt that we were brought back into out childhood. Everything simply leaves us in awe.The whole show was spectecular with all the favourites from disney. Of course not forgetting my all time favourite - Beauty and the Beast. The skaters were fabulous. Smooth skating, cool jumps, stunning stuns and twirls. Words itself cannot describe what I had experience at the stadium of friday. Its totally too incredible to be put into words. I shall let the picture do the talking. I'm already looking forward to next year's Disney On Ice.
Had a hard time leaving Kallang coz there's simply too many people trying to leave at the same time. When both of us reached town, its already 10++ and there's not much places around for dinner. Settled down at Balcony for our dinner coz it would be the 3rd time this month for Lance if we were to dine at NYDC. Had Mediterranean Fish and Wedges while Lance had Salmon and Mango salad. Yummy!!Left the place around 12++, catching a cab to go home.
The sweetest part for the day would probably be the home made biscuits from Lance. Isn't that just the sweetest thing ever? Imagine a guy went home from camp, baked biscuits before going out to meet you...How many guys would do that? What's more the biscuits is really really nice. Practically melted.
Now for the pictures...Not excatly the best pictures taken coz the skaters are simply too fast to be caught on flim.
